“Thessaloniki walking tour”
Thaleia was an excellent guide, taking us through the history of the city. It felt well mapped out so we got to see many landmarks, as well as quiet streets and good local eats. Was the perfect way to kick off my visit to the city!

“Blown off”
We walked all the way to our meeting place and got a text when we arrived stating the other group had cancelled so there would be no tour. 11 am and th ey asked if we wanted to go at 18:15 9 hours later
No thanks
We have used free walking tour a few other times and it was good

“Thessaloniki historical walking tour”
2 hour walk round the city taking in the roman ruins, with some free time to wander into a couple of beautiful churches. As the tour takes in the market you may find going on a day other than Sunday better as the stalls were not open (we stayed near the market so had already seen, and smelt it!). Nena our guide was a local, knew her city and its history, and was easy to talk to and answered all questions. Make sure you recheck the joining place, originally it said to meet at the umbrellas, but when its really sunny the meeting point changes and is about 5 mins away in a small park by a tree (near the white tower). Communication via whatsapp which worked well. A good tour, interesting to learn about the history.

“Highly disappointed. No one showed up”
Highly disappointed. First the trip was cancelled. Got whats and contacted the guide and was tod it was postponed. Called and had a good chat and was told the next day. Nothing happen the next day. No one showed up.

Nuestra guía Eva llegó a la cita a tiempo pero a lo largo del recorrido la información recibida nos pareció escasa; limitadas referencias al contenido histórico o artístico, sin anécdotas y mostrando falta de interés en general. “Guide didn’t show up, no cancellation”
We drove into the city in time, after a reassuring e-mail the day before about our starting time (12:15pm). At the meeting point, no one showed up, and on the website the 12:15 tour all of a sudden wasn’t available anymore. Needless to say this was very disappointing.
Afterwards, the organisation explained this as the guide being ‘suddenly’ sick and they couldn’t reach me in time. But they never reached out, at all.
I can understand that these things happen, but: a) INFORM YOUR BOOKERS or b) ARRANGE A SUBSTITUTE. Just because it’s a free tour, it doesn’t mean you have no obligation to arrange things professionally.

“The guide Lina : disappointing experience”
The guide knew next to nothing about the history. She had notes in her hand which she clearly hadn’t learnt and had to refer to regularly. She tried to make up for this by talking about everyday topics (pastries, for example). She encouraged us to go into the churches (without her), clearly to save time, and ended up cutting the tour short by half an hour.

We started the tour near to the The Umbrellas by Zongolopoulos and finished in the Holy Cathedral of Sophia. The 2h tour was good. I'd recommend if you just want to do a walking tour and learn about the important place and little bit of background about it.

“Very Disappointing ”
This tour was extremely disappointing. The guide, Osama, spoke too softly; did not seem to be very knowledgeable; tried to avoid answering questions; and when he did answer, he often gave confusing or misleading answers, which he later retracted. The guide also disappeared a few times, after depositing us at a site. We left the tour early because there was no point in continuing.

Our guide Thaleia was great. It felt relaxed as we strolled around but we covered all the main sights and she took time to answer all questions. Her history and local knowledge were good. She had a personal family connection with the transfer of peoples between Turkey and Greece in the 1920s which was very interesting. She gave tips about where else to go if we have time. “Historical overview with local touches.”
Thalia was a.history student at the university and consequently her grasp of.historical nuance.and progression. Because we passed by sites from different eras one had to remember an earlier conversation and pick up the pieces. It would have been impossible to walk in an historically accurate path. We were the only two who showed up for the tour, so Thalia was able to exercise her.historical chops, since I have a deep interest in those aspects of Thessaloniki and they fit into the sweep of European and near-eastern history

“Nice introduction tour!”
It was a beautiful walk through Greece, very special during Easter week to go into churches and see typical Greek traditions. The tour was a bit too introductory, it gave us a good overview of the sites and a bit of history but would have been nice to hear some more history or more facts. Guide was very chill and open for questions and to giving out recommendations.

“Very incomplete explanations”
The explanations were very brief and with almost no details. I have done free tours before, so I was surprised to see how little the guide spoke, just a few basic sentences per monument. I considered leaving the tour but I didn't dare (it would have been very rude from my side).
I am sorry to leave this review because the guide was kind and seemed nice.

Our guide Nena guided us inside the city and its history, but also shared with us a lot about the life in Thessaloniki nowadays, and we spoke about philosophy. And we got answers to all our questions !
